Buyers or Sellers?

by scott longert on 07/06/15

As the trading deadline approaches the question remains whether or not the Indians should be buyers or sellers? They are nine games out of first place. It is up to the front office to decide on the right course of action.

The team does not have much they can sell. I would guess Carlos Santana is available but what could they get for him? Probably David Murphy and Ryan Raburn could be dealt but again what value do they have? I don't think the Tribe is going to mess with any prospects like Zimmer, Bradley or Frazier.

It is not likely the Indians will be buyers. They got burned with the high contracts of Michael Bourn and Nick Swisher. It would be a surprise if they paid top dollar for another big name.

So where does that leave them? Probably just where they are. I don't think much is going to happen between now and July 31st.

July has been quite a home run month. J.D. Martinez is having an awesome few weeks, hitting homers just about everyday. Chris Davis is starting to get back in the form he had in 2013. The home run race in the American League should be a good one.
